Sky Tower

 SKY TOWER TRIP!

On Thursday 6th of May 2021 Room 7 went on an AMAZING trip!We went to the SKY TOWER! It was such an amazing experience seeing the New Zealand Auckland from up high, as we were getting prepared to go up we first watched a little movie at the ground level. The first movie was about when and how long it took the builders to build the Sky Tower. After we had watched the movies we then proceeded to go one by one to the toilets, after we went they handed us a booklet which had a bunch of questions about the movies that we watched before heading up.

As we answered the questions that were given to us we then got prepared to go up the elevator to go up to level 51 which was very high but exciting

at the same time. As we were walking towards the

elevator our instructor told us one 10 people at

a time, so only ten people went in each elevator. I was getting very nervous because it was my first time going up the Sky Tower. As I stepped foot into the elevator i got goosebumps, it was frightening and exciting, As we went up the Sky Tower it went all black… then we saw light, it was the windows that show you how far you are going up high, I got so scared and closed my eyes as we went up I looked down and even worse, it showed the bottom of the elevator which sacred me so much I almost screamed!

As we reached the top I walked out of the elevator with my eyes wide open, shocked at the beautiful view! I loved the view so much but what scared me the most was how high up I was, we then started walking around the Sky Tower but then the biggest thing that scared me the most was the thick glass that was 4cm thick which is very strong and thick. The view was breathtaking. I loved it! But didn’t fix the fact that we were so high up looking over Auckland New Zealand. We opened up our Booklets to locate where the mountains were, after we had located all the mountains we sat on the ground and ate our morning tea. Finally we finished our lunch and picked all our rubbish and got ready to go down a level.

We used the stairs to go down to level 45 which was the refuge. The Refuge had no view, just metal everywhere, Maria, who was our instructor explained why they made the level 45 (refuge). After we had a discussion about the refuge we moved on to level 61. Level 61 had the best view out of all levels. We walked out the elevator and Maria told us that apparently we could lean on the glass which I was afraid that the glass would smash if i were to lean on it. But then our student teacher Ms Woodhall helped me boost my confidence and lean  on the window, IT WAS TERRIFYING but at the same time you have to face your fear.

After we had an adventure/exploring up at level 61 we had to go back to level 51. We walked into the elevator but this time there were no windows to look out of the elevator. It was just like a normal elevator. We went back to level 51 and had another adventure then had to take the elevator again to get back to the ground floor, we arrived at the ground floor and sat in 6 lines. Mrs Raj then asked Soane (Head Boy) to come up and say a little thank you to Maria & Cooper. Then we got on the bus and left.

It was such an amazing experience going up high and seeing all the Buildings in Auckland. I loved it so much that I'm still scared to this day!

Thank you & Hope you Enjoyed reading my experience on the Sky Tower.
